Frequently Asked Questions

More information about Web Builder:

What do I need to update my website?

Access to the Internet and a Windows system (any version), with Internet Explorer 5.5 or newer.

Web builder websites can be accessed by any computer connected to the Internet, however we recommend a Windows based system to update the content.  Virtual PC Emulator (Macintosh) is know to function properly, but it is not officially supported to change content on a Web Builder Website.

Can I use Firefox?

Firefox can be used to access the Website, but not to update the content.

How many pages can I have?

Although there are no limits, we recommend Web Builder for sites with less than 200 pages.

Can I have a shopping basket?

Web Builder websites are not designed to handle Shopping Baskets

We recommend Web Builder to maintain the general content of the Website, linked through the shopping basket (powered by a specific shopping basked software).

If you have a bricks and mortar shop (in addition to the on-line store), we recommend your shopping basket to be linked directly to the Point of Sale System (POS) - many POS Systems have an extension to support on-line stores.

We note that the Minigen site can display a page from the Catalogue (produced by the on-line store system) - please provided details of your current site on the Quotation Form (we will get back to you with a quote).

Can I have my own domain name?

Absolutely, Web Builder can be used for one or more domains - we note that purchasing a domain name and organising for the hosting of the same is your responsibility.  When ordering a Web Builder website, you will be instructed as how to get it to operate as http:// <yourwebsitename> . com .au - during the setup, you will be given a temporary Web Address to be able to update the content on the Website.

Can I add images to my Web Builder website?

Absolutely - you can add as many images as you wish.  We note that you should manipulate the images using a desktop package (such as Paint Shop, Photo Shop or Microsoft Paint (#1)).  Images should be resized and croped to the correct size, and saved in JPEG format.

(#1) Paint is available for free with Microsoft Windows

Images from digital cameras are usually too big for a Website - you should resize it to the appropriate number of pixels to fit your size - resizing it prior to transferring to the site will improve performance of the site, and it's appearance.  You should avoid resizing the image after uploading on the site!

As a guideline, most images on a Website are under 50 Kb (kilobytes) - we note that an image copied directly from a Digital Camera can be more than 20 times larger !  This will affect the performance of your Website.

Can I add documents to my Web Builder website?

Absolutely - you can add as many documents as you wish.

Documents should be less than 2 Mb in size.  Other things to consider -

  • Save Word or Excel documents in PDF format, if possible (PDF will give more consistency when printing)
  • Don't use spaces or special characters in the file name.  We recommend the use of letters, numbers and the "-" as a separator.

Can I have any design?

Web Builder is provided with a range of free pre-built designs.  These can be modified (at a cost) by a Web Designer. Click here to obtain a quote.

You will be able to replace the "Your Company logo" with your own logo.

(The file name must be called company-logo.gif - please make it precisely 122 pixels by 82 pixels) - replace it in the "resource" area in Web Builder when editing your site.

If you would like us to manipulate your logo, or for it to be placed on a different location on the page, this can be provided as a service -   click here to obtain a quote.

Can I have any hyperlinks?

Yes, as many as you like.
